In Memory of Collin Carroll

One year ago today, the Africa Mercy lost one of its crew members Collin Carroll. Collin was with some fellow mercy shippers at the beach. Unfortunately there was an under current that pulled Collin out to sea. He fought against the current and soon tired himself out. As he was fighting the current a set of waves came in too big for him to handle. One wave crashed on him, and then another and another. By this time, some speculators, he was unconscious. One more wave hit him and he had lost all hope to live. His body disappeared for an hour before it washed on shore. Some tried to resuscitate but it was no use. Collin Carroll died July 29, 2007. This morning a service was held on the dock in memory of his life. Some people who were here when it happened and knew him were crying and mourning. Tonight a memorial service will be held at the beach at which he drowned. The hope that comes out of this tragedy is that we all know that we will see him with our Father in heaven someday. God Bless the Carroll Family.

Good morning Wes, this was a very touching story! Thanks for sharing! I appreciated your last remark in it saying that someday his family and those that knew him on "Africa Mercy" ship will see him again, and be reunited! Praise Him, that Colin was a Christian! This will be helpful to all there, to know that there are rip tides in that ocean, just like we have in the Pacific. We love U and surely do know that you are in GOD'S care and hands, serving HIM, in many various ways, HE'S watching over U, and those there! ILYVM.....XOXO...(have I sent enuff of these so far?) More are on the way! Grama Fran

Wes, Thank you for sharing this story. It is an example of how the power of underwater currents can overcome even the most powerful swimmer. There was a student at Calexico High School who drowned while swimming in an irrigation canal that looked so peaceful on the surface and yet had devasting undercurrents. God does provide warnings for us in many ways as we walk close with Him.
Praying for you, Papa

Wesley,
Thank you for this timely reminder about the Carroll family--joined you in prayer for them today.
On a far less significant note, I was reminded of just how small the world can be at times -- I'm in E-conversation today with a radio station in Monrovia, Liberia! By chance, have you heard of: Moses Tarpeh Nyantee, Station Manager of ELWA Radio??? I'm sure it's doubtful but what a coincidence! Praying for you! Lee Ann & Jackson Family!

Hey bud, Love reading your blogs. Sounds to us that you are really having a great time. Your dad and I were praying the other day and I got teared up just hearing what a impact you are having on so many including your own dad. I enjoy hearing all of the different things you are learning and seeing. I don't know if you have heard or not but we had a small 5.2 earthQuake today. No major Damage it centered in chino hills CA. Love you Man
